The Best remedy for a Winter Cold

My husband and kids have been passing around a virus like it's a hot potato, and I was smugly staying out of the way.  Until a few days ago, when it smacked me right in the face.  I really don't like being sick.  Feeling out of sorts no matter what I do, and getting nothing done that needs to be done.  UGH!

I went to bed at 6:30 last night and slept until 8 this morning.  Not like me.  And then my head hurt, and my feet were cold, and my bones ached, and our yard looked like this, which made me want to stay in bed, but I couldn't sleep anymore.  I guess 13.5 hours was enough.

A Discovery of Witches: A Novel
I decided I needed a book, but nothing looked good.  This is when having an e-reader really comes in handy! I started browsing my "wish list" on Amazon, that's where I stick a book someone suggests until I decide to buy it.  And I found this, A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harness.  And I am so hooked! I've been reading all day, that and a cup of peppermint tea are the perfect remedies for my blahs.

The person who recommended it said it's like Harry Potter for grown ups, and so far I'm really enjoying it.  Has some suggestions of sex but nothing graphic, and no language that will shock you.  It's just fun, indulgent reading.  So, if you're in need of something to make a few hours (or days) disappear give it a try!

Jamie I just wanted to say "Hi" and thanks for coming and visiting my blog the other day. I love making new friends :-D

I had to laugh that you say you are from the desert and now have moved north and are just trying to stay warm :-D I am too!!

We just got slammed with our first snow of the year here. It was a little late in coming and tonight I am freezing.

I had a little look around your blog - it is so fun. And when I saw the pictures of your trip from NYC at Christmas I knew you were my kind of friend :-D

See you soon!
