Tate's Eagle

It's been a while since I've posted...I know.  Life has been crazy, and there's no other reason.  Just busy with lots of day to day business, but nothing spectacular.  And, honestly---I'm just not that great at blogging! I don't think of funny comments or witty posts.  I become much too introspective when I blog I've decided.  But, I'd still like to keep in touch with our family & friends (who are like family) that live far away & don't get to see it all in living color.  so please be patient with my slow posts :)

Tate did his Eagle Scout Project last August, it was fast and furious, and went really well.  Then came the really hard part....the paperwork.  If you've had an Eagle Scout you know what I'm referring to....it hurts my head just to think about it.  I firmly believe if the boy is earning the Eagle the boy should manage the project and do the paperwork on his own, I'm not doing it for him.  I will remind, I will assist, I will coach.  But I will not actually do the paperwork.  So Tate's paperwork has sat, 90% complete for the past 5 months.  His Dad tried to bribe him to finish by the end of 2011, it didn't work.

We found out the Troop was having an Eagle Court of Honor in February, and thought that was going to be the kick in the pants he needed.  It did nothing.  Then, 11 days before the Court of Honor it was announced John Bytheway would be coming to speak.  That did it.  Tate loves to be funny, and he LOVES John Bytheway.  I think we have all of his audio talks, and Tate just about has them memorized. (Just in case you need a little humor...)

He wanted to be there, he wanted to be one of the Eagle Scouts John Bytheway was talking about.  So he began a fast and furious race to get his paperwork done.  It was hairy.  It was by the skin of our teeth.  It got done.  Tate is an Eagle Scout!

HALLELUJAH!
3 out of 4 are Eagles, 1 more to go!!

Trying to get all 4 to take a real picture can be a little crazy sometimes....
